Actors in many popular movies, television shows and theatrical plays have used special effect contact lenses over the years. Tom Cruise wore blood red lenses in three of his movies; "Days of Thunder", "Far and Away" and "Vanilla Sky". Brad Pitt, another popular actor who makes the ladies swoon, haunted us with his white out eyes in the hit movie "Interview with the Vampire." Science fiction movies have always been popular for their outrageous characters like Darth Maul, the dark lord in the hit movie "Star Wars." His horned head, face tattoos and gleaming yellow eyes strike terror in the hearts of all when we see him on the big screen. When make up designers are creating a character they have to pay attention to detail; for example in the movie "Mr. Saturday Night", Billy Crystal had to age considerably. Part of this process included the use of special effect contact lenses that gave his eyes a dull, aged look. Sometimes all that is needed is a simple eye color change to complete the costume for an actor, for example; in the movie "Andy Warhol", David Bowie's eyes were changed to brown with just the use of some colored contact lenses. Some other actors who have had to change eye color for a movie include; John Malcovitch for the movie "Jeckell and Hyde" and Robert Duvall in "Wrestling Earnest Hemmingway. "
